Danish design company Vipp launches their fourth hotel instalment. Another one-room-wonder, this time on the island of Lolland, Denmark.

Vipp adds another string to its bow, unveiling Vipp Farmhouse. The quintessential, leafy countryside escape is set on an idyllic nature-based island known for its history, charm and grand estates. The farmhouse is Vipp’s fourth accommodation following the launch of Vipp Shelter at Lake Immeln, Sweden Vipp Loft in Copenhagen, Denmark and Vipp Chimney House in Copenhagen.

The Space

Upon checking in to this authentic Danish farmhouse, you’d be forgiven for feeling like you’ve stepped back in time with its whitewashed facades and thatched roofs reminiscent of the 18th century.

Commissioned by Vipp and the estate owner Ulrik Th. Jørgensen, interior designer Julie Cloos Mølsgaard effortlessly fuses the historic charm of a 1775 former gardener’s residence with modern comfort. Interiors reveal a signature Nordic restraint, including wooden details, curious art finds and soft textiles.

Comprising three bedrooms, each with double beds, three bathrooms, and an open plan Vipp kitchen and living, the two-storey hotel is ideal for 6 guests. The ground-floor bedroom opening up to a terrace garden, endless fields and leafy forest views.

The Experience

A two-hour road trip from Copenhagen will bring you to this immersive farm stay, nestled within a 1400 acre estate known as Søllestedgaard. Nature and history are the main drawcards with endless fields, forests and green gardens. Guests can meander through Denmark’s largest private greenery, known as ‘Den Grønne Verden’, on the 1800s estate. Fresh produce from the estate is harvested for Danish Michelin restaurants and is on offer for guests of Vipp Farmhouse at the estate’s own restaurant Spiseriet.

The Owner, Ulrik Th. Jørgensen explains, “Our old horse stable is now transformed into a restaurant and shop where farmhouse guests can buy or taste our variety of 250 greens cultivated on the fields next door.” For those who prefer to prepare their own fresh delicacies, a fully equipped Vipp kitchen resides in the farmhouse.

The Destination

Foodies, art enthusiasts, adventurers and nature lovers will find their slice of heaven on Lolland island, the fourth-largest island in Denmark, situated just south of Zealand. Lolland has long been known as ‘the food chamber of Denmark’ with its rich soil and favourable climate.

In addition to the neighbouring restaurant Spiseriet at Den Grønne Verden, located on the estate, the newly opened Pomle Nakke is also popular with Cophenhagen locals, as is nearby Krenkerup Brewery and Frederiksdal Winery.

Works of art at sculpture park Dodekalitten combined with museums Reventlow and Fuglsang will feed a desire for visual art. Adventure seekers will delight in fishing, cycling, beaches, 600kms of coastline suitable for all kinds of watersports, the nature reserves of Nakskov Fjord as well as the serene Maribo Lakes.
